1 Timothy 6:12 says…

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you have made a good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

We as children of God are rich beyond measure and yet we tend to live like paupers.

“The faith” is what we believe. But it’s also our life, what we do.

Should the period be there between “faith” and “take hold”? Perhaps the better way to think of it is with things connected. They are complimentary ideas. e.g.

“Fight the good fight of faith and take hold of the eternal life…”

The Bible doesn’t look at eternal life as something that happens when we die. Our eternal life began the day we trusted in Jesus. (Several references quoted from John 5:24 and 6:47.)

God wants us to have full understanding and to utilize and appropriate what is already ours now.

Take hold of eternal life to which you were called

God called us in Jesus so that we could live in the reality of our eternal life and enjoy all the riches of being a child of God.

about which you have made a good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Jesus died for us and was raised again so that we can live in the reality of our eternal life; dead with Christ to the old sinful passions, and alive with him to new life and new power. (See Romans 6:3-11)
