Dear Family of South Hill Bible Church,

These are extraordinary times. Even two weeks ago we could not have foreseen the circumstances that we face today. We have no idea what tomorrow might bring, but there’s no doubt, our God will see us through. He sees, He knows us in times of stress and in times of calm. So rather than being hard on yourself because of fears or doubts, “take them to the Lord in prayer.”

Many are wondering what impact the health crisis will have on SHBC. Until further notice, we will continue with our Sunday plan as we did last week, suspending coffee time, Bible classes, and the 10 a.m. service. These are all gatherings that would exceed the 10-person limit recommended by the President, and most would exceed the 50-person limit mandated by the state of Washington.

We will be continuing with Livestream broadcast of our worship service at 10 a.m. on Sundays via Facebook Live. We will post instructions later this week for how to access the video stream as it happens and how to access it after the event. We are also looking into posting the videos of our Sunday services to YouTube (more information on that as it becomes available).

In addition, we are suspending all activities at the church that normally occur during the week. But we definitely are not suspending church! Church is not primarily the building but God’s people, purchased by the shed blood of Jesus Christ, united into one family, building each other up in love.

To maintain contact with everyone during the week, we plan to start a regular devotional and worship time via Facebook Live this week. The content will include:

  • A Scripture of the day
  • Time for prayer
  • A song to sing together
  • News and information updates relevant to SHBC

To facilitate communication and centralize the “hub” for that information online, we have redesigned the landing page of our website. When you go to shbcspokane.org, you will be able to click the graphic called “Information Page”. This will lead you to another page that will be continually updated with relevant information and links to pertinent articles (such as the aforementioned guide to accessing Facebook Live or watching our videos on YouTube).

To the best of our ability whatever gets posted to the website will also be sent out in a church-wide email. **If you know someone in your circle of friends at SHBC who does not have access to or chooses to not utilize these means of communication, please keep them informed of what is going on at the church.** We do plan to mail a letter in the upcoming days, but it will not necessarily have the latest information.

Finally, the elders and staff are actively developing a shepherding plan so that we can be in touch with every single person (that we know about) that calls SHBC their church. We love you all. We are praying for you all. We do ask for patience as we respond to the ever-changing circumstances. If you have ideas to share, we welcome them. Please be kind with criticism. If there are things we can do better, we want to do that, of course.

Through many dangers, toils and snares we have already come;
‘tis grace hath brought us safe thus far, and grace will lead us home.
