Should a difficult text prevent us from obeying?
Mark 16:9-20 is a difficult passage in Scripture. Pastor John Underhill takes some time at the beginning of this message to explain the issues that are relevant.
But there is a larger question in play: should the inherent difficulties with the passage keep us from being obedient to Jesus’ command: “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” (Mark 16:15)
If we get lost in the minutia of textual criticism, we will miss the most important concern of all: the proclamation of the Gospel in all the world.
