In this second sermon from Genesis 18, Pastor John Underhill leads us in an exploration of the extent of God’s justice and goodness. Though often seen as Abraham bargaining or haggling with God over the souls of certain people in Sodom, we can rather see the revelation that the future of Sodom is not to be determined by the presence of the wicked, but of the righteous.

Remember:

• God never judges capriciously
• God’s grace always exceeds our expectations
• Persistence in prayer is designed to teach us more about ourselves and our God, and (secondarily?) to get our requests answered
• Effective prayer is rooted in two eternal truths:
  • the greatness of God
  • the goodness of God
