Hello!

Haley Rae and Bri coming at ya from Guatemala City! I (Haley) just want to start off by saying I got up at 6 o’clock this morning because I was so excited to begin working and loving up on some kiddos. I do not wake up that early ever! That just proves how amazing it is here. A girl who can sleep in ’til 2 in the afternoon got up at 6 to snuggle some babies. We have been having such a great time here! It’s crazy how fun working can be when you are with some incredible people who just want to serve God.

This morning we cleaned some toilets, showers, ceilings and everything in between! Crazy enough, the entire time we were laughing, singing and having fun. The whole team is so excited to be here and to be able to love on all the kiddos we are privileged to meet. We’ve played card games, soccer, painted nails, and shared our favorite verses with each other. Even though most of us aren’t fluent in Spanish, we are still able to communicate with the kids and build relationships with each other. Yesterday night, we learned 3 new games they play here all the time. It was so special to see how similar games are here as they were when we were little kids. There will be a new team from Texas joining us this afternoon. Please pray that we will be able to work well with one another and that we will continue to honor God through our work and conversations with the children here at Casa!

Just a couple of cool observations we have made in Guatemala City so far are the beautifully colored houses. Bright blue, green, red and yellow houses fill the city. There are also so many busy people selling homemade-food on the streets, going for a jog and even swerving around the cars on their motorcycles. Lanes are more of a suggestion here. In addition to the differences, there are many similarities. We spotted a Taco Bell, McDonald’s, and Domino’s all within a few blocks of each other. McDonald’s would even make deliveries on motorcycles!
